about

The oral history project presented here, is not intended to explain the history of the Ohio Brass Company in whole, it is a submission for consideration, a fragment of a big picture linking the horse-and-buggy age with modernity. The recordings comprising Catalog One, as themselves, are posthumous “legacy box” additions of four men from different backgrounds, representing three generations. Their dictation and tape is unedited and unenhanced, reproduced from a single reel of tape on one medium (other portrayals of employees were recorded on compact cassettes, DAT and video), this was a “press play” (systems theory) production that becomes revelatory by allowing the information put in the machine to unfold by leaving it alone.
